Your genetic data is uniquely personal. Genewise is designed to minimize storage, limit data use, and return ownership to the customer.
Core principles
We do not sell genetic data
Your genetic information is not sold to advertisers, data brokers, research buyers, pharmaceutical companies, insurers, or employers.
We do not build a genomic database
Genewise is not built around long-term storage or research monetization. Our workflow is designed to deliver your file and then remove it from active systems after the delivery period.
You receive your data directly
Your FASTQ/VCF file is delivered through a secure digital transfer link. You own and control the file after download.
Biological samples are destroyed
After sequencing and delivery, physical and biological samples are destroyed according to the applicable lab workflow and our Terms of Service.
Limited retention
Data is retained only as needed to process the order, deliver the file, support account and order records, meet legal obligations, and provide the short retrieval period described in the Terms.
Full anonymity by default
Your real name is never required. Use any name or pseudonym on your order. Ship to any address you choose: a P.O. box, mailbox service, or any secure location. Only your email is needed so we can send order updates. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe; Genewise never sees or stores your card details.
You don't need to share your real identity
Genewise is designed so that you never have to connect your genetic data to your legal identity. Every part of the ordering process can be anonymized.
Any name
Use your real name, a pseudonym, or generate a random one at checkout. Your legal name is never required or verified.
Any shipping address
Ship to any address of your choosing: a P.O. box, private mailbox service, trusted address, or any secure location in the U.S.
Payment via Stripe
Genewise never sees or stores your card details. Payment is processed entirely by Stripe, who maintains their own payment data under their privacy policy.
The only thing we need is an email address, so we can send your kit tracking information and order updates. Use any email you can access; it does not need to be linked to your real name.
